[NEWS] Heo Young Saeng escaped from the ballad concept
SS501's Heo Young Saeng (25), goes 'solo'
On May 12th the first solo mini album song 'Let it Go' was released. SS501's main vocalist Heo Young Saeng, even when he was still on his team, he already shown his unique high vocal ability and now on his way of being a solo singer. Now that he start his solo activities, he still have some other plans in mind.
SS501 debut in 2005 and this is your first solo album after 6 years, do you feel a lot of pressure?
I'm looking forward to it, but I also feel the pressure. During the group activities, other members can fill the lack in me. They also do it during MV or TV appearance recording. I also feel empty now that I'm doing it alone. But it is also a good thing that the 100% focus is now on me.
During SS501 days, do you have a dream of being solo?
Of course, but when the group is on a tight schedule. The company got plans o release solo album but it didn't happen
What do you want to be perceived in this solo activities?
If you mention the name Heo Young Saeng, the first thing that will come in to their mind is ballad. Most of SS501's songs are dance music. But since I am the main vocalist, most people perceived me as a ballad singer. I seek advice from my friends; I asked "what should I sing" they will reply me with "do ballad". "How about dancing?" "you'll do better in singing" he said. I think that those people doesn't understand me well. I also like dance music. Ballad songs will make me feel bored while dancing can be enjoyed with the audience.
'Let it Go' is not a typical dance song.
Sweetune who composed KARA's hit songs produced this medium-tempo dance track. HyunA of 4minute made a featuring for this song. It's about a girl who desire for love but the guy is like "you can leave if you want to." 'Cool city guy' is the concept for it. hahaha
Among SS501 members, you were the 3rd to have solo promotion. Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun already started their activities. What do you feel about it?
I'm happy that I'm doing solo songs but it feels a little lonely. But we always say o each other that we need to work harder. Even if I feel lonely, I'm expecting to establish my own image.
Would SS501 will unite again?
We were planning to release a digital single but since we were in different agency now and currently doing our solo activities, we can't find time to discuss it. The members said, "Let's establish our solo careers for now and then we will regroup again." We don't have concrete plans for now but it is for sure that all members wants to be together again.
Kim Hyun Joong, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun are now in different agencies, while Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong are in the same company. But compared to other members, they doesn't look like lonely.
Well, we feel less lonely compared to other members. It's a good thing that Kyu Jong and I have some colleagues here in our new agency that also work with us comfortably from the previous company. The current CEO and Lee Hyori noona also came from DSP Entertainment, so we feel good about it
Beside singing, do you have any interest in other fields like acting?
A lot. I've been thinking of acting for along time. But since I debuted as a singer, my singing career will be my priority. If an opportunity will be given, I would like to challenge my acting skills in drama.

SS501 Heo Youngsaeng has ascended on Hanteo Chart’s Weekly No.1 throne.
On May 12, Heo Youngsaeng who’s released his first solo mini album ‘Let it go’ had achieved No.1 for Realtime results on the Hanteo Charts with his album sales, and also No.1 on the Daily Charts. In addition to this, the total album sales across 4 days (until May 16) has also been calculated as a total of 17,000 pieces, which is thus No.1 on the Hanteo Weekly Charts. This is a very luxurious opening to his solo debut.

Heo Young Saeng 'Let it Go', Set aside SS501 for the meantime
Following Kim Hyun Joong, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun, SS501's Heo Young Saeng finally take a step for his solo promotion.
After a year of rest, he finally released his first mini album with a title track 'Let it Go' and now returned for his fans. In fact, he's quite pressured because it'll be his first time to perform on stage as a soloist, but Heo Young Saeng still gave a soft smile.
"I can feel the stress, I'm not sure if I can do it till the end. This is the first time that I'll use my name, I felt a little nervous by standing on stage, but I still like this kind of feeling ."
But the first process of his solo album production was stopped due to the difference of point of views.
The initial plan for the release of Heo Young Saeng's debut album was supposed to be last February. But in order to not rush everything and be very careful to each details for the album production, they decided to postpone the initial plan. Heo Young Saeng had an "Intense battle" with his company representatives due to the disagreements when it comes to the selections of songs.
"Since it is my first solo album, I want to show a transformation and the representatives thinks that it is much better to put more importance on the melody."
"If we're going to keep the previous concept, it will not succeed"" we must not do what is expected; use a dance song as the title track for his solo album. Heo Young Saeng accepted the company representative's recommendation.
"After confirming the concept and title song, I started to do my best for the choreography of the song." That is how 'Let it Go' come up. This song will show Heo Young Saeng's passion for dance. As the power vocal of SS501, a lot of people think that Heo Young Saeng's title track will definitely shows his vocal strength in ballad songs, but 'Let it Go' didn't meet what those people expect. "If 10 people will be asked, 8 out of 10 of them will say that he will sing ballad songs, and because of this, we need to break the concept that this people have in mind. Following Kim Hyun Joong, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun, SS501's Heo Young Saeng finally take a step for his solo promotion.
After a year of rest, he finally released his first mini album with a title track 'Let it Go' and now returned for his fans. In fact, he's quite pressured because it'll be his first time to perform on stage as a soloist, but Heo Young Saeng still gave a soft smile.
"I can feel the stress, I'm not sure if I can do it till the end. This is the first time that I'll use my name, I felt a little nervous by standing on stage, but I still like this kind of feeling ."
But the first process of his solo album production was stopped due to the difference of point of views.
The initial plan for the release of Heo Young Saeng's debut album was supposed to be last February. But in order to not rush everything and be very careful to each details for the album production, they decided to postpone the initial plan. Heo Young Saeng had an "Intense battle" with his company representatives due to the disagreements when it comes to the selections of songs.
"Since it is my first solo album, I want to show a transformation and the representatives thinks that it is much better to put more importance on the melody."

TVXQ, Big Bang and the male idol group SS501 became the same when it comes on taking a solo path for each members.
Kim Hyun Joong as an actor, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun who was now in different agency and already released their own album. Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong of SS501 who moves on the same company are now preparing for their solo activities. Heo Young Saeng's first solo album was released recently. It's been a year since he released an album with his members.
"After a year, I moved to an agency that believes in me. I've been with SS501 for the past years. Now I'm with Hyori noona. She''s too busy that I have only seen her twice. Anyway, sorry, it would be great if I could continue with my group activities. But then I also want to take a solo part, and having my own activities will be a good idea. In this album which was released on May 12th, Taewan who also works with Rain was featured on the first track song 'Out the Club'. The analog synthesizer and drums made 'I'm Broken' a bit trendy. 'Rainy Heart' which features Kim Kyu Jong who moves with him in their current agency did the rap part.
Heo Young Saeng was preparing for his comeback when he had his injuries. During his dance rehearsal last April, he accidentally hurt his ligaments that made his comeback to be postponed. Heo Young Saeng still pursue on it even he's not fully recovered. Due to his condition, the group decided to modify the choreography.
